This piece was designed and built for a couple who wanted a bar for their family room that would have lots of storage for liquor, beer and glassware. They were attracted to the orchard table I built using rough wood with layered, distressed finishes, an antique/ folk art kind of look. Inside the cabinets on each side are baltic birch shelf boxes with heavy weight full extension slides. The proportions on these are designed to hold tall liquor bottles on the bottom shelf and tall pilsner glasses on the top.The cabinets each have locks to secure the liquor. Above each cabinet is a drawer with soft close slides, again the drawer boxes are built out of baltic birch which brings an elegant striped detail to the dovetail joints on the drawer boxes. The center section was proportioned to hold a Kegerator for beer and wine.The top is made of cypress which has a gorgeous grain with just a little stain added to bring up the warmness in the color of the wood. All are finished with multiple layers of General Finishes satin polyurethane.(Click on the right side of photos to see multiple views).
