Wrigleyville Deck

I built this deck for a house that was new construction fifteen years ago, hard to imagine but the original deck built with the house had no concrete piers to support the 4×4″s. They had gradually rotted and were sinking into the ground as was the deck overall. The homeowners had some clear ideas of what they wanted in a new deck and we collaboratively worked through the design process to create a design that started with a level directly out the back doors with a breakout to accommodate their grill. Three steps dropped down to the main deck area giving a nice contrast in the elevations and also lowering the main deck into the yard for more privacy. A run of stairs with a small platform at the bottom provided an exit and access to the yard and garage. Some very nice furniture and planters from Pottery Barn appointed the main deck and created a large and comfortable spot for hanging out, eating and entertaining.
