This table is 82″ long by 19″ deep, built out of simple rough pine. The wood was milled to give it true edges for joints and glue-ups but the surfaces were left rough preserving the original saw marks and textures to enhance the distressed layered paint finish to come. The table incorporates mortise and tenon joinery, beveled legs, a router profiled edge on the top and dovetail joints on the drawer boxes. I had been working on a series of different distressed paint samples in the shop, this one has an under-painting of a deep brick red layering black on top and then sanded out to bring up the textures in the wood and paint. It was finished with three sprayed coats of satin polyurethane.
