The couple who commissioned this mantel had already installed the stove and tile and wanted a mantel with bookcases designed and built to complement them. They liked quarter sawn oak and were looking for a darker stain/finish. I developed a series of drawings and then built a “too-scale” mode to dial in on the design and proportions. The beautifully designed green tile really brings out the finish in the wood. A very cool piece to make. (click on the right side of photos to scroll through multiple views).
