Two adjoining neighbors wanted to replace chain link gates that exited between their homes into the alley. There had been some problems with garage robberies and the existing fences and gates provided inadequate security. The design of the fences and gates mirrors the same look I created in my own backyard some years ago. I designed a pergola that provides some architectural interest and also structurally adds support to the top of the gates. Because of the difficulty of removing existing metal posts from the chain link fence or digging post holes the 4″ x 4″ posts were bolted directly to the existing posts.
