This mantel was designed to finish off a condo re-hab in Chicago’s historic Hyde Park neighborhood. Design drawings were presented, created to complement the existing base and crown moldings that were part of the re-hab. The mantel was built in the shop out of paint grade poplar and birch with two coats of primer and sanding. The installation involved connecting the horizontal center span with the two columns on-site and then installing the crown moldings and cap. The client’s children placed a time capsule on the inside of a column, a nice touch. (CLICK ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PHOTOS TO SCROLL THROUGH MULTIPLE VIEWS).
