This piece was built for the dining room in a Vermont home and designed to hold place mats, linens, silverware and cookbooks. The construction is of pine with harder maple on the face frame, drawer fronts, feet and front edge of the top. After construction the wood is distressed using a rope imbedded with screws, nails and angle irons. The finish is a combination of a number of layers of paint and lacquers topped off with three coats of satin finish polyurethane. The distressing and  textures in the wood are brought out by sanding which also reveals the under layers of paint. The drawers are baltic birch with dovetails. Pieces like this can be built in a variety of finishes and designed for specific spaces and usage (tables, dressers, cabinets, bookcases). (Click on the right side of photos to see multiple views)
